How do I Sync Outlook or my Mobile Phone (and iPhone, too!) to my Webmail?

The following explains how to sync contacts, calendar items and tasks with Microsoft Outlook (2000 through 2007), your iPhone, SmartPhone or a Pocket PC device. (Please note: Due to Apple's current restrictions, only contacts on the iPhone may be synced. Apple plans to release the ability to sync calendars and notes in the near future.) The free sync software must first be downloaded from this page (iPhone users must download the software from the iPhone's App Store) and then installed on your local computer or phone. Once the software is installed, you will need to configure your email address and password in the installed plugin.

The following instructions pertain to Microsoft Outlook.

To install SmarterMail Sync, please follow these steps:

1. Download Sync for your version of Outlook, or your Smartphone or PocketPC
2. Select a location to download the file and click OK.
3. Once the download completes, navigate to the download location and double click the install file to begin the installation.
4. Click Next to begin the install Wizard.
5. Accept the terms in the license agreement and click Next.
6. Click Install to begin the installation.
7. Click Finish once the installation completes.

To configure your account through Outlook, please follow these steps:

1. In Outlook, expand SmarterMail Sync and click Account Settings.
   
   
   
   
2. Click Add.
   
   
   
   
3. Enter the requested information:
   • Name: enter your name
   • SmarterMail URL: enter the URL for the SmarterMail Web interface (http://mail.domainname.com or http://mail#.safesecureweb.com)
   • Email Address: enter the full email address
   • Password: enter the password for the email address
   
   
   
   
   
4. Click Next.
   
   
5. Click Finish.
   
   
6. Expand Synchronize and click the account you just created.
